''THE SCREAM" art work

THE SCREAM

by Jason

In this post I will write to you about an amazing piece of art called the scream by Edvard Munch. I will tell you about the different things that make it a piece of art. These things, or descriptive words are imitationalism, emotionalism and formalism. Those words are words that are used to describe art.

Imitationalism is whether or not the piece of art looks realistic. If you look at the scream you can make out that it is a man standing on a bridge screaming but it does not look real. so in this case imitationalism is not a factor for this piece of art. For the simple reason that it does not look like a photo.
Emotionalism however is a factor the scream shows a great amount of emotion in the painting such as pain, anxiety, and fear the artist used colors like black and red to show these emotions. Also he used a strong curve on the man to show almost like he is melting or overcome by pain. So as you can see emotionalism is a great factor in this painting.
Lastly formalism witch is the elements and principals of design. I will talk about lines in the background the lines show emotion by swerving them around the also create texture all of which create a great piece of art.

in conclusion the scream is a great work of art and it is shown through my essay. Hope you liked it and i hope you tune in for more posts
